We supported the provision of psychological assistance to veterans

We supported the provision of psychological assistance to veterans working in the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Our team believes that this is a bold experiment in working with people who work in a rather masculine system. It has already yielded positive results because it is based on the principle of equality.

“We managed to melt away toxic masculinity and provide opportunities to consider new roles for the image of a responsible hero. We are very pleased with the support of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which is ready to implement creative approaches.

It is important to note that psychological trauma must be treated in the same way as combat injuries. They may not be as obvious, but it is also important to be there for veterans and provide support.

For me, as a gender expert, this is an obvious discovery and a narrow window into the world of psychology and the development of dialogue between men and women in Ukraine during the war,” added Olga Polyakova, executive director of Gender Stream.

As a result of this project, a film was presented—a short film about a unique psychological retreat in the Carpathians.  The film was the result of a joint effort between the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Department of Communications and the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Psychological Support Department.
