VARTOVI protect!
We, VARTOVI, monitor and respond to hate crimes committed against LGBTQI+ communities in Ukraine.
Our main goal is to provide legal support to victims and document these violations to create a foundation for change!
VARTOVI are a step toward equality, safety, and justice for all who need it.
VARTOVI is a team that documents hate crimes and protects the rights of victims. If you have witnessed violence, discrimination, or any other violation, or if you have been a victim of a crime, contact us. We will help you file a report, provide legal support, and stand by you at every stage.
Your information will remain confidential. All data is processed following safety standards and used solely to assist you and fight for justice. We do not share your data with third parties without your consent.

We record cases starting from 2023.

We only record cases in Ukraine.
Who Can Report a Crime:
- Survivors
- Witnesses, relatives, or partners of the victims
- Representatives of organizations/associations, media, and government bodies
How to identify a hate crime?
What is a hate crime?
A hate crime is a crime committed due to prejudice or hatred toward individuals because of their affiliation with a particular group.
Such groups include: race, religion, nationality, sexual orientation, gender identity, and others.
Categories of victims we work with:
- LGBTQIA+ community members
- LGBTQIA+ organizations and associations
- Allies and parents of LGBTQIA+ individuals
- Individuals who are not part of the LGBTQIA+ community but were targeted by perpetrators as if they were.
Possible offenses:
1. Crimes:
- Physical violence, murder
- Domestic violence
- Hindering the activities of LGBTQIA+ organizations, centers, associations, etc.
- Illegal detention/imprisonment
- Other

2. Monitors’ work:

3. Does the case require legal support?
- Yes: The monitor refers to Gender Stream lawyers upon request and with the victim’s consent.
- No: We enter the case into the database, additionally code it for confidentiality, and close the case.
4. We accompany the case until court victory. We provide support and protection, helping to achieve justice.
